Title Medium, dimensions & year

One sentence — The whole piece in a single line. The subject, the gesture, the tension. Write it like a caption that does more than describe.

The Portrait — 2–4 sentences. Who is this person, how are they depicted, and what formal choices did you make — pose, reference, materials, composition. This is where the Renaissance nod or the collaged photo or the abstract ground gets mentioned, but as part of how you saw and painted this person, not as a separate formal analysis.

The Question — 1–2 sentences. The open-ended idea the work is sitting with. Not a thesis, not a conclusion — more like the thing you were turning over while making it. What does it mean to paint this person this way, now?
